Start with a specific job
An enterprise assistant should serve a defined purpose: explain services, help find approved information, or guide a user through a business process. A clear scope makes it easier to identify the knowledge it needs and the questions it should hand to a person.
Keep knowledge connected to the business
Use approved, maintained information as the source of answers. Assign ownership to that content and establish a review process. An assistant should say when it does not have confirmed information rather than filling a gap with a plausible claim.
Design the handoff
Some questions need judgment, access to private information or a commercial discussion. Provide a clear route to the right team. Ask only for the context that helps the next step, and avoid collecting confidential information in a public chat.
Evaluate before expanding
Review realistic questions, unavailable information, ambiguous requests and attempts to override the assistant’s boundaries. Add capabilities gradually, with appropriate access controls and human review for consequential actions.
